| From this scholastic year, we will be adding class 6 to the curriculum, and English as a second language will be taught from Grade Two onward. Our school obtained the best scholastic results in Maheshwar, according to results of exams for the school year ending April 2003. We wish to offer this fine education to more students, and make fuller use of our excellent school building. After consultation with teachers, we have decided to start two shifts. The morning shift will be for the older students and the afternoon shift for our younger students. This will be done with no sacrifice to the quality of our education. Indeed we have reduced the number of students per class from 25 to 20.
After serious discussion amongst our trustees, it was decided to start a minimum and graduated fee system for students. A prime consideration was that all felt education was more valued when it was paid for. Of course we cannot charge full fees, which would come to more than rs 2000 per child per year. The average of fees will come to rs50 per child per month. The fee system has been accepted by all current parents. Enrollment for the current school year stands at 340 students; applicants outnumbered places by two to one. 10% of the student body will receive full scholarships, dependent upon need, and another 10% will receive merit based full scholarhships. Rehwa will continue to support the majority of school expenses through sale of our fine fabrics and contributions from concerned sponsors. The cost of supporting one child for a full year is $120.
